A Little Background
I started racing triathlons in 2007, when after a serious medical condition in the family I decided to get healthy. Active all my life, I came to triathlons after years of ballet training, before that I was a runner and swimmer. As most things in my life, I go big or I go home, so triathlons were the biggest thing I could think of.
My first triathlon was the 2007 USAT Collegiate Nationals in Tuscaloosa, AL as part of the Vanderbilt Triathlon Team. GO 'DORES! That was just the beginning of a 12 race season. Can we say triathlons are addictive? I can say that racing 12 triathlons in one season for an newbie is not wise. After just 6 months of racing, I was given the privilege of becoming Vanderbilt Triathlon's president. As president, I help grow the team to over 40 strong and we were a force to be reckon with in the Southeastern Collegiate Triathlon Conference. After graduating from Vanderbilt University, I headed down south to Miami Beach, FL.
As I started my new career in South Florida, I continued my love of triathlon. I searched high and low to find a coach that would work well with me and help improve my weakness, running. After much thought, I decided to be trained by Marcelo Holcberg in 2009. I was one of Marcelo's first athletes with his new company Tri2One. Through his coaching I have increased my running ability and completed a 40 mile run of a Ragnar Relay ultra team and my first marathon.
I recently made the jump from athlete to coach when I became the group leader for Tri2One's running group. Drawing on my years of running (since 1992) and triathlon (since 2007) experience, I began leading an amazing group of people looking to improve their running while having an amazing time. This group is full of recreational runners to age group contenders. My experience as the president of Vanderbilt Triathlon has prepared me well for running complicated workouts while encouraging everyone to do their best. While being the running group leader I am training for the 2012 season, which includes a various distance running races, triathlons, and even obstacle course races. I am thoroughly enjoying my running group and look forward to having a great season!
